Forest Guardians Students Honored

With the presentation of certificates of appreciation and statues, students of undergraduate and master's degrees in Forestry Science and Engineering at the Faculty of Natural Resources, Lorestan University, who collaborate with the General Directorate of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Lorestan Province in the field of firefighting, were honored.

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, on Monday, May 19th of this year, a specialized scientific meeting entitled "Zagros Forests Fires; Causes, Effects, and Prevention Strategies" was held in the conference hall of the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Lorestan University.

In this specialized scientific meeting, which was held with the presence of Dr. Hamed Naghavi, Head of the Faculty of Natural Resources, Lorestan University, Dr. Reza Siahmansour, Associate Professor at the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Education Center of Lorestan Province, referring to the situation of the forests of Lorestan province and the fire crisis, explained the most important reasons for the occurrence of fires in the province's forests and considered partial views and lack of attention to the entire ecosystem of forest ecosystems as effective in exacerbating the critical situation of the Zagros forests.

Furthermore, Dr. Rahim Maleknia, Associate Professor of the Forestry Department, Faculty of Natural Resources, Lorestan University, also emphasized the role of human factors in the occurrence of the fire phenomenon in his speech and considered the weakness of documented and appropriate management programs for the administration of the Zagros forests and insufficient attention to the important and sensitive role of local communities and indigenous people as the most important reasons for forest fires.
