Visit of Lorestan University Water Engineering Students to Makhmalkuh Dam with Lessons of "Implementation" and "Hope"

A group of undergraduate and postgraduate students of Water Engineering from the Faculty of Agriculture, Lorestan University, within the framework of a scientific and educational program and with the support of the Lorestan Elite Foundation, visited the civil and infrastructure project of the "Makhmalkuh" Dam and Water Transfer Facilities in Khorramabad. This scientific visit was held with the aim of familiarizing students closely with the design and implementation processes of civil projects and enhancing their practical skills.
The visit was supervised by one of the young scientific elites of the country.
According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, this visit was conducted with the presence and guidance of Dr. "Mohammad Nazeri-Tehrudi," Assistant Professor of the Water Engineering Department and one of the selected young professors of the National Elite Foundation. Students met with the project managers and experts and discussed the technical and managerial details of this provincial infrastructure project.
Field Familiarization with the Construction Stages of the Dam and Water Transfer Facilities
The participants visited various parts of the project, including the dam crest, galleries, and water transfer tunnels. While closely observing the civil operations, they became familiar with the challenges, implementation methods, and technical considerations of large-scale water projects in the country.
According to project experts, including Engineer Karamvand (Head of Security and HSE of the project), Dr. Beiranvand (Representative of the Consulting Company), and Engineer Mahmoudzadeh (Executive Deputy of the Kakareza Dam and Tunnel), this dam is under construction with the aim of providing 55 million cubic meters of drinking water annually for Khorramabad and 5 million cubic meters of industrial water.
The physical progress of the project has been announced to be more than 51 percent so far.
The Makhmalkuh Dam is designed as a rockfill dam with a clay core and has a height of 53 meters and a crest length of 600 meters.
The client of this project is the Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company, affiliated with the Ministry of Energy, and the implementation of the operations is the responsibility of the National Construction Company.
The project supervision and design are also carried out by the Abdan Faraz Consulting Engineering Company.
This scientific visit, which was held with the joint cooperation of the Community and Entrepreneurship Relations Management of Lorestan University and the Lorestan Province Elite Foundation, with the presence of Reza Asareh, the representative of the Community and Entrepreneurship Relations Management, is a step towards achieving educational goals and expanding the interaction of the university with industry.
